Double Trouble Waffles & French Toast has been in business for about a year and I caught up with them on a chilly Sunday morning in Mt. Airy. With such an extensive menu, it was hard to make a decision! My husband and I were both in the mood for waffles (although next time around I plan to try the french toast, after looking at their Instagram photos!). The waffle sandwiches also sounded and looked delightful!Continue reading
Foolish Waffles began their food truck journey in 2014 and I tried them at the Chestnut Hill Farmer’s Market, way before I started writing this blog. I recall thinking that they had something special, something that every food truck should strive for: a product that had fresh ingredients, creative ideas for specials, and friendly workers who cared about putting out great food. Since they opened, they have won several awards, including a Philadelphia Magazine 2014 Best of Philly award, 2015 Vendy Award, the Uproxx 2017 AND 2018 Best Food Truck in Pennsylvania award, one of the 101 Best Food Trucks in America by The Daily Meal, and the 2018 list of Top Food Trucks by Philadelphia Magazine.
With all of these accolades, does the waffle stand up to the hype? My answer, an emphatic YES. Continue reading
Honey has a shiny new truck parked across the street from the College of Engineering on 12th Street at Norris. I was drawn in by the sign advertising chicken and waffles and vowed to return one day to try them. Now let me tell you… this may be the best fried chicken I have ever had from a food truck! This will definitely quell any fried chicken craving you may have. You may remember this truck when it looked more like the photo below. I never tried the food then, but I had been meaning to check it out.
On my first visit, I was not in the mood for waffles, so I tried the chicken avocado wrap instead. The chicken was breaded with panko breadcrumbs and spices, dressed with a small amount of sweet chili sauce, and wrapped with some perfectly ripe avocado. Battered fries were a great companion to this meal. The chicken was juicy and crispy. I’m definitely having this meal again! Continue reading
Back in 2016, I reviewed 4Brothers Loco Flavor food truck in this review. At the time, the truck was pretty new and were probably still ironing out the kinks of their menu. The owner of the truck found my review are requested that I come back and give it another try. I am of course always game to try things again! The review I wrote wasn’t necessarily bad, but I am happy to report that the new menu they have is much better! Even the truck itself looks better with new signage and easy to read choices mapped out for you (click to enlarge photos):
Eternally busy, Richie’s Lunch Box serves up American favorites, most notably some fantastic fries. The menu has plenty of choices, including an entire vegetarian menu with veggie burgers and hoagies. Lunch choices include grilled or fried chicken dishes, burgers, fancy grilled cheese, cheesesteaks, and cold sandwiches. For breakfast, fourteen different omelets, egg sandwiches, bagels, and hash browns are served diner-style. Continue reading
As I stood in line for Eppy’s lunch truck trying to decide on which of the many choices available would become my lunch, a lady in line chatted with her friend.
“Remember when this was like, the ONLY truck on this street?”
“Yeah, this one is the OG, and still one of my favorites,” her friend reminisced.
When I brought the chicken cutlet sandwich and fries back to my office (pictured here), one of my coworkers said almost the same thing.
“Eppy’s? I have been going there for years. It’s so good!”
Things have been pretty busy around here for the last week, so this post is going to show some other things I’ve tried from trucks I previously reviewed in this blog: Chicken Heaven, “Sexy” Green Truck, E&E’s Gourmet Express, and the Creperie.
First up is in the photo above, the Chicken Rancher wrap from the Green Truck. It is featured on the lunch board to the left of the window. The chicken is breaded and comes wrapped in a toasted tortilla with lettuce, tomato, bacon, and ranch dressing.
I was chatting with a friend of mine, who brought up the Green Truck as one of his favorites on campus. He said he refused to call it “sexy” but the breakfast egg pitas were excellent, especially when asparagus is in season and the asparagus egg pita was on the menu. I later found out that the Green Truck has a ton of breakfast and lunch items to choose from!
There is no shortage of choices here at E&E Gourmet, where photos of and menu signs surround the entire truck with everything from burgers to wraps to breakfast to rice platters and Middle Eastern selections. One morning, I was not feeling my usual breakfast of oatmeal or yogurt, so I stopped at the truck to check out the omelette choices.
